Juf Tienie was founded in 2015. Our company was borne out of a passion to really make a difference for kids. At Juf Tienie, we want to give children personal attention and help them with their learning difficulties at their level, through their way of learning.
It is not always possible to get extra help at school when a child doesn’t understand the subject. When parents don’t have the knowledge, time or opportunity to help their child at home, the learning difficulty can result in a big problem in the coming years at school. Juf Tienie can help you with this.
We work with complete focus on the child and start with their abilities and interests. Learning will go much faster and easier when both the subject and work program are interesting.
I am Martine van den Berg – Oostdam, founder and owner of Juf Tienie. I’ve finished my teaching degree in primary education in 2006 and have worked as a teacher in many different primary schools, from the multicultural giants in Amsterdam to the small schools in towns around Hillegom. Whilst working as a teacher, I noticed that my passion not only lies with teaching but also in offering personal attention and really knowing what interests children. The challenge for me was to create material that is interesting and instructive for all children. Because I wasn’t satisfied with the results, I decided to change course last year.
In my years living in India I learned quite a bit about tutoring and I noticed that children learn very fast with some personal attention and fun tasks. Quite quickly it became clear that I wanted to continue this in The Netherlands.
Nowadays I greatly enjoy my work helping with all kinds of learning difficulties. Giving the personal attention and discovering new teaching methods makes my job very dynamic and fun.
In the coming year I will follow a course on coaching students with dyslexia and guiding people who learn Dutch as a second language. These two options will become part of Juf Tienie’s services after finishing the course.
